Carnaval returns to highlands

The International Friendship Center is proud to host our fourth annual Carnaval Cultural! This is our second year in Highlands (as we alternate between Highlands and Cashiers) and we are so excited to return to Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park to bring a bit of street festival flair to the Plateau. This vibrant community celebration highlights the rich traditions, talent, and spirit of our local Hispanic community.

This year’s festival will feature dance performances by Xichiquetzalli Grupo Folklorico with singer Humberto Castro. Of course, there will also be some amazing traditional foods prepared by community members, including flautas, tamales, elote (Mexican street corn), refreshing aguas frescas (courtesy of sponsor Las Margaritas), and even cotton candy.

More than a dozen local organizations will be on hand hosting carnival-style games and sharing resources about their services.

The festival is entirely free, though donation jars will be available to help sustain this event and support IFC’s ongoing work in the community.

We are deeply grateful to our sponsors—Lupoli Construction, T. J. Bailey's, Las Margaritas, Whole Life Market, Kilwins, Rostova-Westerman Law Group, and Wild Thyme Gourmet, whose generosity makes Carnaval Cultural possible.

Join us for a joyful evening of music, dance, food, and fun as we celebrate the cultures that make the Plateau such a special place to call home. Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park
