Women’s Group gets Funding

The IFC selected as one of six recipients of this this year's Women for Women grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. The award is a two-year, $15,000 grant to support activities for our Grupo de Mujeres (women's group), including first aid and CPR classes, women's self-defense classes, and professional development workshops on topics such as entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and college applications.

IFC's social worker Karla Magaña and executive director TJ Smith attended the awards presentation in Asheville. Karla spoke to the Women for Women audience about the importance of the women's group and the support it provides to its members.

The next women's group event is on June 5th and is a presentation from Angie Thacker, CEO of Pinam Construction in Raleigh.
